Do you use article marketing for search engine optimization (SEO) purposes? If so then I advise you to listen up because I have something to share with you that may change your whole SEO methodology!
Let us imagine that we are using a single article directory for our article submissions and for a hot link that offers us plenty of juice back to our money (primary) website.
That, it must be said, is a great choice. There is no doubt that a link back from even a single Ezine articles article is a thoroughly worthy link indeed, albeit limited in its capabilities when it comes to helping to rank a web page on our own site.
But, let us consider for a few moments how we can enhance this link further than if it were simply to gain “juice” from the directory of Ezinearticles.com alone.
Mind you, the power that comes from our article being a part of the make-up of that article directory is hefty, simply due to things like Google PR passed down from the domain name, from Alexa ranking, which currently stands at a mere 131 for this article directory, and this signifies massive daily traffic volumes.
Not only this, but we should also consider the number of indexed pages in the articles database, the number of inbound links and also the domain age, which I think is about 8 years old (the age is not showing on the SEO Quake Firefox add-on).
These stats all add up to sheer power, and for us to get just a little taster of this power in the form of a couple of backlinks to our own little website, cannot be underestimated!
Now this is all well and good, most of us know and understand most of the above. We may even be regular contributors to the Ezinearticles.com database, which is great! But, hang onto your seats now as what I’m about to tell you will have you itching to get up and go smacking away at those keys on your laptop or desktop in the effort to put into action what I am about to share with you.
And that is…
How about if I told you that you could set up a nice quality Ezine articles article on a topic of your choice? Get your bio box in there, with a couple of tasty anchor-text links heading on back to your own web pages, and then submit this for publication, and within a day or 2 all is looking right with the world – article published, job done.
Fine, no big deal.
What if I told you that you should not just rest on your laurels here. Oh, no, no, no! If you are to do that then you are missing out on a real opportunity to help your own web page rankings far more. And not only that, if you are more of the inclination of ranking your articles very high in Google, then this is the way to go!
What if I told you that, for example, you could submit your article one day, have it published the next, check out the Google PR which will of course be PR n/a then leave it alone for a bit. However, you could go take a look see at the same article within, say, 3 weeks of publication and lo-and-behold, the darn thing has shot to a Google PR4!
What did I just say there?
A Google PR of 4!
Nope, can’t be done!
You cannot get any article from a Google PR of n/a to jump up 5 places to reach a Google PR of 4 within just 3 weeks of publication, right?
Wrong!
I did it myself, so why can’t you?
Now this is a bit like my own bio-box here – where I link back to my own site etc. and thus providing you with the answer you are seeking. It was a tough call getting the link in the body of the article, hence the “bio-box” style.
I was going to put in a link in the midst of that article that pertains to a Warrior Forum Challenge I have/had going. That Challenge is termed something along the lines of “Top 5 in Google Within 40 Days”.
That may sound fairly easy, but of course I had to hike up the stakes a bit to make it of interest. It’s a fairly tough keyword with around 50 or 60 thousand searches a month (varies according to seasonality factors) according to Google stats (so give or take a good few thousand of that number and you will get a more accurate “feeling” for the actual stats).
But anyhow, the whole ranking process was based upon a website under the domain name of twilightposterz.com with the main keyword phrase to be targeted being Twilight poster. Not that I am a hot fanatic of Twilight and the whole Stephenie Meyer Saga. But I love to take my girlfriend’s kids to the movies and pretend that I’m doing this only for them. I’m a secret admirer of the Twilight movies!

Hi Online College, yes – apparently Google is weighing domain maturity that bit more than previously so the older a site, the more potential for authority in Google “eyes” which then means that ranking pages of the site becomes a little more easy, generally speaking.

Hi Online College Sports, it appears that right now some have benefited and others have been hit hard. eHow seems to be top notch in Google at the moment. Squidoo are holding their own pretty much. Hubs have been hit fairly hard, as has ezinearticles.
But I would suggest to you that Hubs and ezinearticles will be back once again at full strength. Just give them a few months and the management of both parties will have turned things around to be back on good terms with Google.

The “problem” with ezinearticles now is that Google are not so keen on ranking the articles high in search any longer – or so its been said – not since their recent bout of algorithm changes. Nevertheless, even if that is the case, they still provide a very valuable backlink.

Submitting an article to ezines is not enough, thousand of people submit their article daily. To get some real value from it you have to make the article to stand out. This can only be achieved by having people to visit, rate and comment to your article so he will receive a good score that will make him stand on featured pages more.

Hi Lucian, I understand your point but this is not the main reasoning behind my post. The thinking is not so much about driving traffic (which is a very valid method indeed all the same) but to gain powerful backlinks so as to improve on rankings in Google search.
To have your article stand out in ezinearticles is more about creating a really good article title, and then to add a “hot” bio so you get the click through. But that’s a different tactic to what is being discussed here.

Yes it could well be Golden Boy. However, what with Google’s recent hit on ezinearticles I don’t believe that ranking of ezinearticles in search is going to be that easy any longer. At least not for the coming weeks months anyhow.

No Doubt ! with the help of Ezine article you can improve your rank as well as it’s much effective to maintain for a long time,rather than social bookmarking. Social bookmarking isn’t long time effective as Ezine article directory.
Interior Designer, I agree – and what’s more, I feel that social bookmarking has lost quite a bit of its link juice power over the past year or so. Too many spammers were over-utilizing it, thus Google devalued it with regards to helping to rank high in search.
And ezinearticles – at the moment they are having to go through radical changes just after the latest round of big Goog algorithm shakeups. So, to get an article accepted by ezinearticles right now is tough going to say the least.

I guess article marketing is not as important as it used to be for Google.
That is a valid argument to make Golden Boy, and those who have been in the game for long enough will say that article marketing has been “losing its touch” over the past few years where Google are concerned.
But I still think there are few backlinking methods that work as well as article marketing does simply because there is so much potential that can come from merely a single article that is published on a directory.
Plus, if you use a “two-pronged attack” (backlinks from article submissions and also driving visitors to your site (or where-ever) via the bio box) you still have a VERY powerful “weapon” of choice here.

Nice tips, it’s certainly important to do more with an article than just post it up and leave it. To maximise the return on your efforts, get link building towards it. Promote it via social bookmarking and social media, get people talking about it!
PR4? That’s pretty darn good.
It’s beneficial to write something which is going to encourage discussion. Even if it means asking a couple of friends to start of the commenting, it’ll start getting the ball rolling at least!
I guess you could say that being controversial will earn you the comments etc, as people are more likely to respond!

Are you referring to writing something somewhat controversial for an ezinearticle article? I wonder if the ezinearticles support staff would entertain the idea and publish such an article. In the years gone by they’ve been fairly staunch in that they don’t take too kindly to “raunchy” articles (I don’t necessarily mean sexually-orientated content here (whatever that truly is…)). And I suspect after the Panda algo update they are even less inclined to do so in an effort to reclaim top spot in terms of Google love for their article directory once more.

I think if you were intent on ranking your article high in search and really focusing efforts on that rather than your main site then this would be highly appropriate action to take. Otherwise, you’d probably be best taking this action for your website’s benefit rather than focusing in on an article. But if its an article that is proven to convert well in terms of bio-box click thru, then you surely would gain extra rewards by taking this route and making that extra effort really count!

Despite the Google updates I still utilize articles as an online marketing tool. Whilst they might not have as much weight, they do have some benefit especially if they start ranking. It’s good to have a diverse link portfolio, and articles can certainly contribute to a decent backlink profile.
