Online Shopping

Are you done shopping? I’ve spent a few days last week shopping with my kid and my wife at various malls because we didn’t do much shopping during the holiday season.  We got some signatures clothes at bargain prices and some pair of shoes. I think doing your shopping after Christmas will get you better deals than doing it during the peak season minus the long lines and the crowded stores.

I also checked online shopping sites to compare shopping prices because I’m on a look out for a new netbook,  a gaming console for my little kid and maybe a lens for my DSLR if I find a good deal. A good chunk of my shopping is done online but of course there’s no replacement for checking out the items personally where you can test, feel and check out the features.

I actually got myself a bang for the buck netbook with nice specs that I intend to do a review this week. I bought it 5 percent cheaper than Xmas season price and a 3G modem as a freebie. A friend bought my 1.5 year old full size laptop and I’ve spent the money buying the netbook.

Like online stores, prices also differ offline. So what’s $100 in this store might be just $95 across it. So make sure to roam around first and get your item wher eyou can get the best deal. Some stores give big discounts if you gonna buy it cash and some give 0 percent interest for 12 months if you want to charge it to your credit card. Same thing online, shop around first, check the deals, see who gives free shipping and who gives extended warranty or what not.

Our good ol sturdy microwave oven also called it quits last month. I didn’t shop around right away because the timing is bad and I know the prices of appliances will go down after the holiday season. And I am right because shops went on sale after new year and I paid 20 percent cheaper for our microwave.

I’d say if you are not done shopping then do it now as you can get better deals nowadays than say 2 weeks ago. For those who didn’t get what they want because the price is a little steep before, check out the stores today and you might find the prices lowered and get better shopping deals. You can haggle down the prices too and get a good deal like 0% interest for 12 months or get free items.

So tell me, what is your experience in post Christmas shopping?

That’s right. It has always been like this that after christmas and new year, people do not have enough money to spend for new appliances and gadgets. So basically, the demand goes down drastically making the price of these items drop too. The only disadvantage is, most of the time, the things you want to buy is either out of stock or already an old stock. Because, most of their stocks are already sold during the holiday season.

Shopping after Christmas is a lot more than before, because before Christmas there are sooo many people. After Christmas, you can find some good offers too :) I don’t think electronics (the new stuff, that us geeks are interested in) are cheaper after Christmas, though.

We actually did some Christmas shopping for my son while he was away, we did it after Christmas and spent probably half as much vs going before Christmas.

Post Christmas shopping is always a hurdle for everyone because during Christmas we tend to spend like billionaires and after Christmas we suffer the effects of over-spending.

Good Luck to anyone who feels like buying anything at this time of the year.

I know Christmas has become commercial but, still, I tend to get into it. I did virtually all my shopping then. Still, I usually buy one gift for myself after the holidays and that’s what I did this year: a new in-dash car GPS system.

Living in Israel, the shopping season is a non-issue for me. I shop online all the time (even for groceries) and I do it regardless of the sales.

  7. Hi,
Most of the people like the shopping and i think if the product is available on the low cost then every one wants to take it. So i think this is really a great thing about the shopping. Now a days online shopping is getting popular day by day. So i think most of the people are preferring it.
    Anyways keep continue.

  8. Well, you can do shopping anytime as I do. Whenever I am looking for something, I get online and search for the best to buy. That’s the best way to go.

I am not much of a shopping guy but when it comes to purchasing electronic items especially computer parts or cellphones, I go crazy lol.

Do put a review of your netbook because netbooks normally aren’t that powerful despite having the potential and that’s what holding me back. I am planning to buy a notebook soon.

But yeah one safety warning, if you don’t need the thing you’re buying today or in the near future don’t buy it.

Kudos to all of you that can face the wrath of shopping during the holidays. The thought of waiting for parking alone makes me want to stay inside. Buying things online always comes with that whole “man, I really wish I could see/play around with it” dilemma. If the deal’s too good to pass up though, just go for it. HAHA. Chances are you won’t regret the purchase. Online buying has come a long way and it looks like it’s just going to continue to get better.
