Having a good phone is like having a good mobile broadband provider. You need to weigh things like price, support and value for money. Nexus One has a great design with slim and sexy body not to mention screen big enough for web browsing. I’m pretty sold with Nexus One so I decided to check the reviews. Most reviews gave Nexus One a thumbs up sign. It scored high in the responsiveness category and its one of the most noticeable aspect of Nexus one compared with other phones. It’s pretty frustrating waiting for 5 seconds for your phone app to run just when you need it fast. Then I also have read about complaints over 3G connections. Forums and blogs are reporting about people having crappy 3G connections but I also noticed that most of the complains were using T-mobile which happens to have the smallest footprint of 3G among carriers in the US. Sure enough, some Nexus one users outside of US has no issue over their 3G connection. I’ve checked Whirpool forum which is an Australian forum and very few people complain about their 3G and because I’m in the Philippines I’ve browse some blogs too and so far it was mentioned that Nexus One in the Philippines doesn’t have any 3G issues at all. I’m glad that its not a hardware issue albeit a provider with poor 3G reception. I think I’ll get the Nexus One and this will be my first ever Google phone. Or I will stick with Windows Mobile (now called Windows Phone) and get the HTC HD2.
One hour before noon we decided to take lunch at a nearby SM Mall and we slept in the car for an hour to recharge our batteries because there’s still a long day ahead of us. We went back around 3pm and again a couple of planes were doing maneuvers in the sky and its actually my first time to see airplane exhibition in live. By now, the kites doubled which I think was close to a hundred which comes in all shapes and sizes and flies in all directions. This is a short film about corporate spy John Logue vs billionaire CEO Bruce Leeks. Watch how both guys try to out smart each other. Quite entertaining I must say. What do you think? The CEO acting is a little off but I’m not complaining.

It’s 5:30 when we reached the parking lot which was full of cars (maybe a couple of thousands) and got a space about 200 meters from the main entry of the event. I was walking when the first parachute jump happened and I wasn’t able to capture the army guy with Philippine Flag tied to his foot. The line to the ticket booth is uber long, the longest line I’ve seen in my life so far. From the end of the line, you can see the balloons starting to fill up so I decided to take pictures first. Luckily I chance upon a small group of people outside running a travel agency and they got spare ticketd so I asked if they can sell some to me. They are friendly and sold me three tickets at a regular price of 150 pesos each. They are from Discover Asia International and they offer good deals for local tourist destination like Sagada up in the north which I might try soon. We got inside and the tickets saved us at least half an hour standing in line. Kites are flying everywhere, people camping from all directions and ultra light planes just took off for their formation flight. Only people with official ID’s are allowed inside the field but we decided to climb the fence so we can get good vantage point. Let me post the first batch of pictures I got while I’m still outside. The 2nd pic shows balloons are ready to go in a few minutes so I broke out of the line to the ticket booth to catch some pictures. There are German, Swedish balloons in the pictures and some cool balloons as well like the Barn, Turtle, Beer bottle and the Sun. Toyota and Caltex have their own balloons too. Once we are inside we were greeted with more people like 5 thousand more with a thousand left outside lining to the booth.
