Pacquiao and Cotto
In less than 24 hours from now we will witness two great fighters facing the ring for which could be the biggest fight of their lives. Just a moment ago, both fighters made weight for their 145lb bout. Manny Pacquiao weighed in at 144lbs, his biggest weight ever. Pacquiao’s last fight with Hatton was at 138 lbs and when he beat De la Hoya he’s at 142 lbs.
Miguel Cotto barely made the weight at 145lbs and this is his lightest since he beat Judah last year. Some people suspects Cotto had a hard time trimming down and this might contributed to his performance come fight night.
Both fighters are eager to win this fight as both will accomplish something big if they win. For Cotto, this could launch him to boxing stardom and cemnt his place as one of Puerto Rico’s greatest boxers and of course retain his WBO welterweight belt.
For Manny Pacquiao, this is going to be history in boxing. He could be the one and only boxer to win 7 titles on 7 different weight classes and maybe put him on top 10 All Time Greats. It’s not going to be easy though as Cotto is bigger and a natural welterweight and probably can take punches better than Hatton or De la Hoya which Manny fought at 140lbs or above.
Odd makers are giving Pacquiao a solid 3 to 1 favorite. On betting side, Pacquiao has been bet up to as high as minus 330 (risk $3.30 to net $1), the line Thursday afternoon at the MGM, the fight’s host hotel, and all related properties. Cotto was a plus 250 underdog (risk $1 to net $2.50).
My prediction is, Manny Pacquiao will knock out Cotto within 6 rounds. Pacquiao has an advantage in speed and power. The only advantage of Cotto is, he is much bigger than Manny. Freddie Roach said, Manny will not only win the fight but will knock the lights out of Cotto. Miguel on the other hand said if Pacquiao thinks he will get his 7th title then he picked the wrong time with the wrong guy.

My wish is that the Pacman remain as lucky and God-protected as always. Pacman is still a man, albeit a tough one. I’ve seen him take in some hard punches before and seen how he handles it. He still gets affected. I hope he never gets that dreaded punch on the jaw though. Unless he now has the powers of the ‘Wapakman’ (his super-hero movie), he still is as vulnerable as any boxer.

Pacman whooped Cotto. But, you gotta give props to Cotto for hanging in there for as long as he did. It’s only Mayweather left. Maybe Mosley but I think Pacquiao would slaughter him as well.

Yeah I think Cotto only won the first round and its all Pacman from there on. Only Mayweather left yes and Pacman should consider retiring after that. Thanks for leaving your comment here John.

Yeah congrats Manny…he made it look easy but Cotto is the first one to last 11 rounds in Pacman’s last few fights.

I can’t really forget how Pacquiao pummeled Cotto to a pulp. Cotto was pitiful. He should have stayed home and watch Saturday afternoon cartoon movies. Now, Clottey will also suffer the same fate as Cotto.
