Formula 1 season

The longest season in Formula 1 comes to an end with Mark Webber winning the last race in Brazil albeit due to Sebastian Vettel’s gear box problem. Nonetheless a win is a win and seeing Vettel lifting his index finger again and again gets pretty tiring after awhile.

Red Bull dominance for the last 2 years makes F1 boring. Remember Schumacher and Ferrari’s dominance from 2000 to 2004? Although I’m a big Schumi fan, I’d still like to see a good fight every now and then that’s why I wish the other top 3 teams (Mclaren, Ferrari and Mercedes) do their home work and bring the fight to Red Bull Racing next season.

This year we saw how Vettel broke the pole position with 15 in one season and winning the race 11 times while his team mate Mark Webber finishes most of the time at the top 3 in qualifying and race.

Ferrari on the other hand has never been this uncompetitive since the pre Schumacher era. Fernando did a good job of trying to make the most out of his Ferrari and almost always has a perfect race. Massa lost some of his skills since his freak accident 2 years ago and never been the same.

Mclaren, the only team that can match (at least in some races) Red Bull was on a roller coster ride for most of the season.  Hamilton still hasn’t recover from his disappointment last season and lost his focus this year. Maybe because he got into some feud with his dad and fired him as his manager. Jenson on the other hand improved a lot and in most races finish higher than his qualifying season.

Mercedes is the biggest disappointment for the last two years. After winning both the WDC and WCC in 2009 Mercedes acquired Brawn GP and had high hopes to 2010 season. And that’s all they got, hoping the next race will better but its the same story for the last 35 races or so. Here’s hoping that 2012 season will be different and see both Mercedes drivers on the podium.

Force India is the biggest surprise this season as they fisnih on points most of the time and beat the Renaults and even the Mercedes in some races. For sure its just a matter of time and we can see them regularly on the podium.

F1 fans, we got 4 months till the next F1 race. Share your thoughts and predictions for the F1 2012 season.

I believe that continuously winning also bores you off. When Ricky Ponting was asked after victory in ten continuous tournaments he told that now he does not get that much happiness because he has forgotten what loss is and he has got used to victory.

It’s bound to be another exciting season for Formula1. I wonder who wants it the most this coming season. I think everyone is just as excited as we are. :) Definitely looking forward to watching the races!

Ah, you boys :) I will never understand that fascination with speed and races. I’ve known a guy who gave a little fortune to attend one F1 race and all he ever saw was a cloud of dust :)

I agree with you Anita. There is something addictive to F1 that some or most of us couldn’t fully understand. Although I understand a bit about the craze on F1, the technology they use there is extremely awesome, and what’s great about it is that it can be incorporated in many modern fast cars wherein any person who can afford it can really enjoy it.

  9. I think in the Schumi dominated era there was a shortage of competition from other cars AND other drivers. Now we have a whole load of great drivers and no shortage of world champions on the first 5 rows of the grid (and beyond). It’s just the other cars that need to catch up and I hope that will happen next season. That said, I still really enjoyed F1 this year.

  11. I really miss Schumacher. I think he was simply the best. Was much more fun to watch F1 when he was driving but I can understand that he wants to enjoy his retirement.

Vettel is great but it’s Mark Webber’s time! I agree that it’s great to see our bets winning all the time but it is also good to witness a good fight. between the best players.Somehow, this post reminded me of Manny Pacquiao’s straight winnings :)

Rightly said that continuous winning streak makes racing boring. Tough competition must be given by the fellow drivers. As this might tend to loose F1 fans. Really think Hamilton definately has potential to win. Also other teams must better gear up for next season or be prepared to loose positions in race. Nice post. Loved reading.

  15. Rodriguez from online firearms dealer says:

The four months wait after the F1 season ends every year is like a decade that in a way seems to crawl. It is very painful for die hard F1 fans. But this season was a personification of dominance true about Schumacher-Ferrari in the early 2000s and now of the combination of Adrian Newey-Red Bull-Sebastian Vettel. Next year with six world champions on the grid with Kimi Raikkonen making his return with Reanult to be Lotus GP in 2012 is sure to promise a stellar of a season to commence in 2012. Just can’t wait for the five red lights to illuminate once again. F1 rocks.

  16. Denis from android development says:

I won’t discover America if I say that Mercedes has had tough times lately, but I do believe that its best time is in future. Ferrari team lives only ’cause of its name, I dont think it will improve its results next year.

  18. F1 next year promises to be a step up on other years with it coming to the US in Austin. Am looking forward to being there for the race with my family. Am a big fan of Michael Schumacher and want to see him. My kids love Vettel, so I have already booked tickets for the event. Hoping that the 2012 season will be a cracker like the 2007 season or the 2010 season. Did not like 2011, domination was too much, my kids however liked it as they loved Vettel and his wins, must add that the drives by Vettel were superb.

Have you heard it that after decades, another Senna will be a member of the Williams-Team? I was totally amazed, my father was a big fan of the older Senna.

  20. Carol Hong from plastic surgeon in toronto says:

Surely it was a tremendous season for the Red Bull. Winning 11 races in one season is a big deal. But this even adds to the monotonicity of the whole Grand Prix. If the other teams don’t come up with something challenging soon, it would again turn out to be a Red Bull season again.
