The longest season in Formula 1 comes to an end with Mark Webber winning the last race in Brazil albeit due to Sebastian Vettel’s gear box problem. Nonetheless a win is a win and seeing Vettel lifting his index finger again and again gets pretty tiring after awhile.
Red Bull dominance for the last 2 years makes F1 boring. Remember Schumacher and Ferrari’s dominance from 2000 to 2004? Although I’m a big Schumi fan, I’d still like to see a good fight every now and then that’s why I wish the other top 3 teams (Mclaren, Ferrari and Mercedes) do their home work and bring the fight to Red Bull Racing next season.
This year we saw how Vettel broke the pole position with 15 in one season and winning the race 11 times while his team mate Mark Webber finishes most of the time at the top 3 in qualifying and race.
Ferrari on the other hand has never been this uncompetitive since the pre Schumacher era. Fernando did a good job of trying to make the most out of his Ferrari and almost always has a perfect race. Massa lost some of his skills since his freak accident 2 years ago and never been the same.
Mclaren, the only team that can match (at least in some races) Red Bull was on a roller coster ride for most of the season. Hamilton still hasn’t recover from his disappointment last season and lost his focus this year. Maybe because he got into some feud with his dad and fired him as his manager. Jenson on the other hand improved a lot and in most races finish higher than his qualifying season.
Mercedes is the biggest disappointment for the last two years. After winning both the WDC and WCC in 2009 Mercedes acquired Brawn GP and had high hopes to 2010 season. And that’s all they got, hoping the next race will better but its the same story for the last 35 races or so. Here’s hoping that 2012 season will be different and see both Mercedes drivers on the podium.
Force India is the biggest surprise this season as they fisnih on points most of the time and beat the Renaults and even the Mercedes in some races. For sure its just a matter of time and we can see them regularly on the podium.
F1 fans, we got 4 months till the next F1 race. Share your thoughts and predictions for the F1 2012 season.

Eagerly waiting for the new season to start. I am a huge fan of Sebastian Vettel and I don’t really care how often he wins the race. I just want him to win each and every race all his life. You are right to say that the other teams should fight back and yes they should as I think it would be better to watch Vettel win in the presence of some serious competition.
Yes even I think, Force India is a real surprise! Within very short span of time they have gained a respectable position in F1. By their entry, the races have become more exciting than the usual boring dominating wins in the past seasons. I think the upcoming seasons will be fun to watch. I think Force India has lot of potential to make some remarkable changes on the points table.
I think Hamilton has proved it once again by winning in Abu Dhabi season. It was worth watching him competing. Continuous dominance of Red Bull was really a boring phase in F1 seasons. I think the entry of new baby Force India in the circuit have also ended this phase. I even think Force India has a very good potential. The upcoming seasons will be more exciting I think!
There is no doubt in my mind that webber’s win was planned. If you look at him during the award ceremony it’s quite clear that he’s not that thrilled for the victory.
I believe that this time the trend will change for the better. Some new winner will emerge. Even Webber must have been tired now with the constant victories. @Printuri May be that is the reason why he was not thrilled at his win:-)

The race calendar for the 2012 Formula One World Championship has been declared and the excitement starts in Melbourne. Still more than a month go for the first race, I ma excited to see the car launch of Red Bull which will be held in the later part of February. Leaving behind the victorious 2011 season, its going to be a fresh start for every team and who knows which team gets the lead this season.
Winning is always a thrill provided you have worked hard to achieve it. To remain at a winning position, it is important to continue working hard. Hence, every win must give a thrilling feeling. Only thing is some get used to winning but happiness is always there.

With the season-opening Australian Grand Prix now less than two months away, the time has come for Formula One’s giants to come out of hibernation and reveal their latest machines. Unfortunately for Ferrari, the excitement surrounding the launch of their new car for the 2012 season, scheduled for the 3rd of February at the team’s Maranello base, has been dampened by a flood of information released in the Italian press.
Being a Brazilian, i have to say that I totally miss Ayrton Senna every time I watch Formula 1. Even though he died in the tragic accident many years ago, he is still a huge icon for the Brazilian people.
All the best,
Eren

It’s easy to hate on the champs, but I don’t see Red Bull Racing’s success as a negative thing. I think their dominant success will force the other top team like Ferrari, Mclaren and Mercedes to step up their game. This will lead to better cars, and better racing which in turn will lead to more exciting races. I’m pumped for 2012!
I just cant wait for the inaugural race of this new season. I have been very excited looking at the car launches of all the teams and no matter who has been dominating this game in the past, every new season does bring in a lot of excitement and the competition goes to the next level and after looking at the changes each team has made to their cars, it sure looks like this season would see some serious competition.
You are talking about 2011 being the longest season of F1 ever, just think about the year 2012. Couple of new circuits having been added will make 2012 even much longer than the previous but the excitement never stops. No matter how long the season is, you can make out half way who is going to win the championship. I am pretty excited for the first race and maybe this year ill visit the circuit when the race comes to US.
I’m pretty excited of the new season. I’m following the latest tests in Spain and I think there is a very exciting season in front of us. While Mercedes is hiding some new (spectacular?) parts from the others, RedBull is good as ever. Just Ferarri didn’t look that good until now… Can’t wait till march…
I really have no idea but I am eagerly waiting for Schumacher to rule the Formula 1 once again. Its been a couple of years since those days have come but I am hoping everything will be different this onwards. To my surprise, my husband gifted me tickets to the inaugural Sydney Grand Prix. it is going to be one hell of an experience looking at the fact that it will be my first live race ever.
I am super excited for the inaugural race. I was lucky enough to get a couple of passes for the Sydney race which was awarded to me by my company. I think McLaren are going to be hard pushed to beat the Red Bull quite frankly. I think that the design and the team and the whole lot there, I don’t think they’re likely to be beaten. They may be – I hope they are in a way because it will make it more interesting.
I can’t believe anyone actually watching car racing, I’d rather watch paint dry personally! Nice write up though…

This season in Formula 1 racing in 2012 expects to be the most exciting yet. Many of the drivers all have a strong skill set and the Reb Bull Racing team won’t have their exhaust blown diffuser system to rely on which saw Sebastian Vettel win most of the polls last year to dominate the season.

Formula 1 has had its relaxing winter break and now the things are warming up once again – in reality that is really not how it works. The winter is not the time to go in to hibernation; this is the time when all the teams are slogging to build the most competitive car, which will help them better their performance in the pinnacle of motor sports racing. Every winter teams work on developing a new car with the singular aim of bettering their performance, while abiding by the rules and regulations set by the governing body.
