Do you know what Crop Circles are? I’ve watched these in Discovery channel sometime ago and today I noticed Crop Circles are the trend for Google searches. Crop Circles are those patterns or designs on fields created by flattening the crops such as corns, rye, barley, wheat, etc. The term Crop Circle was coined by researcher Colin Andrews in the early 80s and entered the Oxford Dictionary in 1997. It was believed that Crop Circles were anything but man made. Some says it was made by aliens and some says its paranormal.
So I logged in Google Earth and tried to check some areas where I thought I can find Crop Circles. It’s a little hard at first so I needed to search for places in Google where Crop Circles has been seen. The only time you can see Crop Circles before was when you are flying, like in an airplane or hot air balloon Now if you want to see a crop circle, all you need to do is fire up your Google Earth (well search for places first) and be ready for an display of crop circles. Here are some of the coolest crop circles I’ve found on the internet:
Based on Wiki, since appearing in the media in the 1970s, crop circles have become the subject of various paranormal and fringe beliefs, ranging from the hypothesis that they are created by freak meteorological phenomena to the belief that they represent messages from extraterrestrials.
In 1991, Two men, Doug Bower and Dave Chorley from England, announced that they had conceived the idea as a prank during an evening in 1976. Inspired by the 1966 Tully Saucer Nests, they made their crop circles using planks, rope, hats and wire as their only tools and easily created circles eight feet in diameter. The two men were able to make a 40-foot (12 m) circle in just 15 minutes.
The pair became frustrated when their work did not receive significant publicity, so in 1981, they created another circle in Matterley Bowl, an area surrounded by roads from which a clear view of the field is available to drivers passing by. Their designs were at first simple circles. When newspapers claimed that the circles could easily be explained by natural phenomena, Bower and Chorley made more complex patterns. A simple wire with a loop, hanging down from a cap—the loop positioned over one eye—could be used to focus on a landmark to aid in the creation of straight lines. Later designs of crop circles became increasingly complicated.
Bower’s wife had become suspicious of him, noticing high levels of mileage in their car. Eventually, fearing that his wife suspected him of having another girl, Bower confessed to her, and subsequently, he and Chorley informed a national newspaper. Chorley died in 1996, and Doug Bower has made crop circles as recently as 2004. Bower has said that, had it not been for his wife’s suspicions, he would have taken the secret to his deathbed, never revealing that it was a hoax.

I don’t see the interest in these. Why would an advanced alien civilisation doodle in corn crops, anyway? Bit of a sickener for the farmer, also.

I Agree too. If they really want us to know that they exists, that’s gonna be very easy for them to do. Just bring their flying saucers on top of major cities, just like the movie “independence day”. one of my favorite movies!!!

When I was a kid I had great fascination towards the history of earth and the assumptions of lives outside earth. I read about these patches but I had not seen them. Thanks for the post very clear pictures.

I believe the crop circles are made by humans, its simple enough if you don’t get disoriented or lose your point of reference.
In my opinion, there’s a fair bit of mystery behind but I had seen another documentary on National Geographic some days back on Crop Circles, they based their documentary on people believing that there are aliens and may have mated with the women of Earth and on the other side saying that it’s mere a creation of humans and it’s possible to draw crop circles like that. There’s also a huge lines in somewhere I forgot the name, which the experts say are not possible to draw even today.

Crop circles are created by aliens from afar, or as we commonly know them as TV show home designers that have nothing better to do with their spare time
only joking, they do look rather amazing and it doesn’t matter who or what creates them they are fascinating

Where I come from we have had instances of several crop circles. It interesting to hear farmers talk about these as they are the ones losing their crops. There were hundreds of angry farmers out in force about 18 months ago when several crop circles were made right before harvest…
