Wi-Fi router is great facility. But its range decreases if walls of your house are thick. I am facing the same problem as my lawn and router installation place has too many walls between them.

Hi James, I think the D-link 300 is phased out already. They replaced it with D-link DIR-600 series. If your Asus notebook has WiFi N then I suggest get an N wifi router too to get better signal.
