Yesterday is the 7th month since Nothing But Random came online. I’ve been doing monthly blog stats from 1st to 4th month then I stopped because it sounds redundant seeing it monthly. Well today I decided I will do it monthly redundant or not 
.
Every month I’ll be comparing traffic from the 1st month, last month and current month. So everyone can see how’s traffic in this blog going. The categories would be Alexa ranking, Page Rank/s and some stats from Google Analytics. So let’s start with Alexa.
Alexa Ranking
1st month – 537,545
Last (6th) month – 172,789
Current month – 204,925
My Alexa ranking peaked at 152k about 3 months ago and then started to slowly go high even though my overall traffic increases. A couple of days ago it goes back up to 200k. I think the decrease in Alexa ranking is the direct result of me visiting less blogs and leaving less comments thus less bloggers (with Alexa tool bar) visits my blog too. I also getting less comments because of that. So I think I need to go back to basics and visit other blogs and leave comments more often.
PageRank
On my blog’s 2nd month, I already got PageRank 3 and it stays that way since then. I think another PR update is on the way and I wish I will retain the PR3 or better yet improved it to PR4. Aside from that, I have a few articles that gained some PageRank. Sunday Babe Miranda Kerr, Crop Circles on Google Earth, 8 ways to Improve your Alexa Ranking, 5 Proven Alexa Ranking Tips and Typhoon Ondoy, all got at least PR1.
Google Analytics on 1st, last month and current month respectively.
As you can see, Search Engine Traffic increases as direct traffic decreases which is good. Bounce rate also improved by 5 percent over last month but average time on site decreases which I think is the direct result of Stumble Upon traffic. 85 percent of my traffic is from new visits which is good and bad at the same time. Good because I’m getting new people to see my site and bad because I’m not getting much regular visitors.
So there you go, I’m will try to improve on my Alexa Ranking next month by going back to basics of visiting other blogs more often and hopefully my average time on site will improve too as I will get more visitors from bloggers who stays longer than Stumble Upon traffic.
This blog statistic seems as same as my blog.

I wish my site could get the same stats you currently have. My site is more than 3 months now and my alexa is still at 1.1 Million. Though my page rank is already 2. Like yours, my traffic from search engines already increased but I’m only making around 50 to 100 visits a day.

Thanks for the kind words but I really don’t think I’m that good…there are like thousands of part time bloggers who can do a much better job than me. A good example is Extreme John. Anyways it’s hard to keep up with our blogs if work and family gets so busy.
Don’t give up. Keep writing and do the correct SEO. Traffic will improve in no time.

Having excellent and proper SEO is the best way to gain more visibility in the world wide web arena.
It’s rare for people to be so open and honest with their stats so thanks for that. Personally I would not worry about your alexa ranking it’s worthless.
Be interested howyou got pr3 so quickly and whether you went out to build links. If you could post an answer i would appreciate it.

Well, posting comments to other high ranking Do Follow blogs like Extreme John and Blog Engage did most of the trick. Of course there are about a dozen more blogs but basically that’s what I did. Any do follow blogs or forums where you can leave your comments without spamming will work and will get you some PR.
At the beginning, I leave about 20 or so comments a day then its down to 10 then maybe 5. Lucky my PR stays the same. Now I’m starting to leave at least 10 comments a day in various blogs because my Alexa is down to 207k from a high of 152k.

I checked your blog Ned and I like it. Like what I’ve said here on my post, my Alexa peaked at 152k about 3 months ago. Then I got lazy and lessened my visits to other blogs. As a result, most of my traffic comes from Google or regular visitors but those bloggers or webmasters with Alexa tool bar installed also visits my blog less often hence the dipped in Alexa ranking.

It has been very enlightening. Do you feel blog commenting is an ongoing thing you have to work at every day or can you stop doing it without hurting your traffic much?
Direct Traffic and links in affects your Alexa rating, but remember your Alexa rating can go up just because other blogs and websites have climbed which naturally causes others to drop. So even if you have same links and traffic or even more, you can drop Alexa by dozens of other sites climbing the ladder.
I agree but based on my recent experience, my Alexa ranking drops rapidly as less bloggers/webmasters (with Alexa tool bar installed) visits my blog maybe due to I also visits less blogs these past few months.

Nice stats, good to see some search engine traffic there as well, and about alexa, yes you are right, one has to comment like crazy to bring it down. i stopped commenting actively for a month or so and my rank is over 200k as well. So, from this month, am back at commenting.
about the average time and bounce rate, yes regular bloggers spends a lot more time that social media visitors, because they check multiple posts and makes comments. Looking foreword to see more stats from you, like country of visitors and browser/os visitors are using… stats are fun

Hmm. My site’s traffic is similar to yours (about 1,800 visits/month) but my PR is a 1 and my Alexa rank is terrible (~5 million). I update the site about 5 times/week religiously, I have almost 500 posts over the past couple years but can’t seem to make any PR progress. Any suggestions other than the typical Ezine articles?
