Wednesday’s You’ve Got to See This!

flying_blockOkay it’s Wednesday once again and it’s time for another You’ve got to see! this post. Last time it was featured here Danny MacAskill tremendous skills and talent on two wheels. Today it’s American WRC Subaru driver Ken Block showing his tricks on four wheels, a 2006 Subaru WRX STi around an abandoned air field. Ken has only been driving rally cars for four years but his list of accomplishments read like a seasoned pro. The picture you see on the left is Ken doing his record breaking leap of 171 feet and a max height of 25 feet on his WRX STi rally car.

Some of his accomplishments:

In 2005, Ken Block along with his DC Shoes associates participated in the Gumball 3000 Rally. For the event they sent out three modified 2004 Subaru WRX STi’s sponsored by DC Shoes.

In 2006, Ken Block competed in the One Lap of America competition along with Brian Scotto. They were teamed up in a 2006 Subaru WRX STi and finished forty-fifth overall.

In 2006, for the Discovery Channel show Stunt Junkies, Ken Block jumped his Subaru WRX STi rally car 171 feet and a max height of 25 feet. The whole episode was dedicated to Ken Block attempting this stunt with his rally car.

In 2007, Ken Block joined his fellow DC Shoes Snowboarding team at New Zealand’s Snow Park. Block did massive jumps and assisted in snowboarding tricks while driving his rally car on the mountain alongside the snowboarders. The session made the cover of the December 2007 issue of Snowboarder Magazine and closed out the MTN.LAB 1.5 DVD.

In 2009, for the BBC show Top Gear, Ken Block took James May out for Gymkhana-style driving at Ken’s spectacular stunt course (IYK, an operational California airport.)

Real Men Drive Like This

So what do you think of Ken’s driving? Amazing eh? I’d say he got tremendous car control with pinpoint accuracy and millimeter perfection.

I’m really into motorsports too.. I haven’t had speed channel for a while, and there isn’t much coverage for anything other than NASCAR in the US. Granted, I like NASCAR too. I really like touring series. F1 is sweet, but I wish there was more passing. Those cars are so advanced it is crazy.

Yeah F1 is so advance, everyone almost at par with each other so passing is really difficult. I like Touring cars too, I know a few names especially those former 1 drivers like Johnny Herbert and Alex Zanardi and also Jason Plato (5th gear).

So what do you think of Montoya then? Speed freak or spoiled brat driver?

  9. Excellent video, his driving is amazing thats why he’s in the video and we’re here commenting :P . But wonderful control over his drifting and the best part I loved over the control he showed in front of that person plus the car he had would have helped him as well.

Hi Sam, yes the guy on the Segway…that’s one nice stunt.

Absolutely astonishing maneuvers! The car seem to hold up quite nicely to this brute handling. If only everyone drove with this precision then there would be a lot fewer auto accidents.
