5 Proven Alexa Ranking Tips

Improve my Alexa Rank

Improve my Alexa Rank

Do you want to improve your Alexa ranking? Do you want to know a proven way to up your Alexa rank? Then read these tips and start improving your Alexa ranking.

Yesterday I’ve accomplished my one month goal of reaching Alexa rank below one million in only just 13 days. I know this was just a small feat but I’m excited because I’m just a three week old blogger and I know nothing about Alexa ranking and all when I started this. The first time I’ve checked my Alexa rank it was at 17 million so I decided to improve it to 1 million in 1 month and yesterday, just 13 days later I’ve reached that goal.

Being a new blogger I thought I need my blog presence known on the internet and one thing I’ve learned is if your Google page rank is good together with your Alexa rank then you’ll get some authority on the internet not to mention more visitors. Because Google page rank only updates every 3 months I decided to focus first on Alexa. I began by searching the internet and reading some blogs about improving your Alexa ranking. I picked those tips that in my opinion will improve my ranking and I followed them.

The tip that contributed most (I think) to improving my Alexa rank was by blogging about Alexa and adding a Alexa category in my blog. I’m getting about 40 page views a day on my Alexa article and it’s the one with the most comments in my blog meaning people are searching and interested in this kind of article.

Another tip that contributed a lot in my blogs fast rise on Alexa rank was by commenting on other blogs with high traffic. These blogs are visited also by other high traffic blog owners themselves and they usually visits other people blogs who leave comments. Not only that, these blogs are DoFollow blogs so you are leaving your backlinks there open for search engines.

Third tip that helps my Alexa ranking is by installing the Alexa toolbar in your browser and Alexa widget in your blog. Because you always visit and edit your blog, your visit will count towards your ranking. The widget will help in someway if somebody clicks on it (that’s what they say).

Second to the last tip that I proved pushed my Alexa rank was by using social bookmarking sites like Reddit, Digg, Delicious, StumbleUpon and even Yahoo Buzz. Don’t forget social networking sites too like Facebook and Twitter as you can get traffic from these sites too.

Last but not the least proven tip is by joining social blog networking sites like BlogCatalog and BlogEngage where you can promote your site with other bloggers. Many of my referral traffic comes from these sites.

There are a few more minor tips to improve your Alexa ranking but these five are proven to be the best tips, at least by my 3 week old blog. Do you agree with these tips? Do you have some proven tips for improving Alexa ranking? Share your thoughts below.

I honestly don’t think that what you can influence on Alexa rank just by having the toolbar yourself, is worth that much. If you do 20 pageviews on your own blog a day, how do you know if Alexa actually counts it as 20 pageviews and not just 1 unique visit? Also, it’s not “real stats” since you’re influencing it :)

You know what’s funny or perhaps for a better word we can use ironic. Topics and Posts like these regarding Alexa Rank and how to improve it actually improves everyone’s Alexa.

For example I come here read your article and all of a sudden I have the Alexa Toolsbar installed. Now I continue on my daily routine but something is ne and it’s my Alexa bar. Well from here on out all sites I visit will also get an Alexa increase because I’m on their sites with the toolbar.

My point is even simply talking; bloggers about the Alexa Toolbar can increase all our rankings.

You hit the nail right in the head Brian. Yes just buy talking, blogging and making a comment about Alexa, we are all helping ourselves to up our Alexa ranking. I think your Blogengage is now trying to pass the 30k barrier.

  6. The problem with social networking sites like BlogCatalog is that once you stop being social in the forum, the people you met there quit visiting.

Also Alexa isn’t that important to your ranking.

I think Rose above has made some solid points, but your entry contains a bit more than enthusiasm: the adding of an Alexa category and actually blogging about the topic you wanted to get traffic from / attention for worked. That’s not a bad thing to discover when starting out; I’m still learning what works and what doesn’t.

Thanks so much for sharing your experiences, and best of luck with blogging! I’ll definitely be back to comment more.

  11. I think Alexa rank is a just a measure, maybe overvalued, to know how your site grow up, but what is the point on doing it artificially?

The goal of this tool is providing real stats for the blogger rather than the advertiser, any experienced advertiser will have enough tools to consider whether the advertising will be effective or not.

The best way to increase your rank is adding good content and promoting your site, at the beginning your rank will decrease very fast but being under 100k is a different thing, no matter how many toolbars you install.

I wouldn´t worry too much about ranks rather than having and good and targeted audience :)

    • ZXT says:

You are right Sergio, Alexa ranking is a measure of your site popularity. The tips mentioned in this article is not about doing it artificially but helping your Alexa rank grow. Because Alexa ranking is based on its tool bar, it makes sense if you install the tool bar yourself and Alexa wants everyone to install their tool bars. Your friends and colleagues visits your blog but if they don’t have Alexa toolbar then it won’t count…why not tell them to install the tool bar so their visit counts.

It’s like pagerank. Having good back links will help your page rank, so bloggers wants good back links, its not doing it artificially if they can get back links from other high ranking sites.

When I started my new blog, the alexa was 27M. I tried to post 3-5 articles a week, and go blogwalking and commenting. And in about 3 weeks, the alexa had raised significantly to 3M. However, after it had reach 2,8M, the progress was very low. In 2 weeks after that I only made about 200k progress, even if I posted more than 7 articles a week.
Anybody can explain me this? Thanks
